Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Grand Regency wall mirror has a horizontal oval gilded timber frame measuring 112 cm wide, 82 cm high and 5 cm deep. The construction incorporates a dual-ring wooden frame finished in gold leaf, connected by decorative spoke-like rosettes and featuring an acanthus leaf edge alongside an inner frame with beaded trim. Floral rosettes decorate the perimeter where the spoke brackets meet the main structure, and the whole assembly is designed for mounting above a mantel in a traditional living room or hallway. The gilded surface displays subtle textural variations and antiqued wear consistent with nineteenth-century decorative arts. The piece functions well as a focal point in a reception room or study to reflect light and enhance interior proportions.

These mirrors feature carved timber or plaster-moulded frames coated in gold leaf, produced throughout the Regency, Victorian, and Neoclassical eras to reflect light across formal interiors.

Frameworks were constructed from softwoods or hardwoods, covered in a gesso base, detailed with moulded composition motifs, and finished with gold leaf gilding framing silvered glass panels.

Authentic period examples demonstrate subtle wear on the gold leaf exposing red or dark bole underneath, silvering oxidisation on the mirror glass, and hand-cut timber backing boards.

Mount the mirror above a contemporary sideboard, console table, or fireplace mantel to create visual contrast against muted walls while adding warm metallic tones to the room.

Dust gently using a dry, soft brush or microfibre cloth without liquid cleaners, as moisture easily dissolves gesso layers and damages delicate gold leafing.
