This large 19th-century French Chateau style overmantle mirror dates from circa 1860. The piece is constructed from giltwood, plaster, and glass with a gilded leaf finish in gold, housing its original mirror plate and backboards. The arched frame displays a carved floral shell cresting at the top, a beaded inner moulding, and minor nibbles to the plaster work reflecting its age. Measuring 149.8 cm by 83.8 cm, the substantial glass pane reflects a full view of trees and sky outdoors.
