Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A Windsor armchair is a wooden chair built with a solid sculpted seat into which the legs and back spindles are tenoned directly, originating in English rural areas during the 18th century.

Traditional Windsor chairs typically feature a combination of native British timbers, most commonly elm for the carved seat, ash or yew for the bentwood bows and spindles, and beech or fruitwood for the turned legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit historical wear patterns, tool marks from adzes and drawknives, wedge tenon joints visible on the seat top, and natural timber shrinkage rather than modern mechanical fastenings.

A Windsor chair functions effectively as an accent piece paired with a contemporary desk, placed in an empty corner as a reading seat, or contrasted against a minimalist dining table to add historical texture.

Preserve antique wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking, and apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface without building up residue.
