This pair of Qing Dynasty baluster vases dates from 1890 and is made from white porcelain with hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration. The pieces stand on a circular wooden table surface and display intricate figurative scenes of people on horseback amidst woodland and foliage, rendered in rich tones of green, red, yellow, and blue. Each vessel features a slender neck with a yellow and red Greek key border, a band of patterned decoration around the shoulder, and a colourful ruyi head border encircling the foot.
