This beautiful and high quality pair of Chinese hand painted and enamelled porcelain vases are from the Republican period, early to mid 20th century.These superb hand painted and richly famille jaune enamelled pair of vases are highly detailed with six hand painted panels on each vase. The large front and reverse panels show a mother and her young son playing with a kite or balloon. (The painted images are reversed, making the vases true left and hand righted pair). The sides of each vase have two panels with insects and flora. The remaining surfaces are wonderfully enamelled in a rich palette of colours with an intricate, continuous pattern of foliage and flowers woven together with tightly repeated scroll work on a pale yellow ground.
