Antique Qing Chinese Famille Rose Pink Ground Baluster Vase Yongzheng Mark 14"

18th century
Description

Chinese porcelain vase of baluster shape, likely dating to the late Qing Dynasty or Republic Period (late 19th or early 20th century). It is decorated in the Famille Rose palette with a dense pink enamel ground and two large white reserve panels. Each panel contains hand-painted polychrome scenes of flowering branches, birds, and insects. The tall neck of the vase continues the pink ground and floral motifs, terminating in a key-fret border on the rim. Applied molded decorative elements are present at the shoulder. The marks underneath your vase are a Chinese six-character reign mark written in underglaze blue, read vertically from top to bottom, right to left: ?????? (Dà Qing Yongzhèng nián zhì), which is an apocryphal mark for the 18th-century period. The vase measures approximately 18 inches (45 cm) in height. The condition shows minor wear consistent with an antique item, with no visible chips or cracks. The glaze is opaque and semi-glossy.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Famille Rose is a category of Chinese porcelain introduced in the early 18th century during the Qing Dynasty, characterized by an opaque palette dominated by pink and rose enamels derived from gold.

These vessels were fabricated from kaolin clay fused at high temperatures to form porcelain, followed by the application of transparent glazes and detailed overglaze enamel pigments.

Authenticity is assessed by examining firing characteristics, bottom foot rim wear, glaze irregularities, enamel translucency, and the style of reign marks painted on the base.

Vessels of this style are frequently placed as central accent pieces on credenzas, mantelpieces, or sideboards, contrasting against neutral walls or blending into maximalist interiors.

Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth or a lightly dampened microfiber cloth with distilled water, avoiding harsh chemicals, immersion in water, or abrasive rubbing over delicate enamels.
