These 19th-century Qing Dynasty Chinese Yixing stoneware baluster vases display vibrant polychrome enamels in shades of pink, blue, green, and yellow across patterned light green cell diaper grounds. Each vase measures 25.5 cm in height and 12 cm in diameter, rising from a rounded body to a slender neck beneath a foliate moulded and scalloped rim. The design incorporates detailed figural landscape panels depicting figures near pavilions alongside continuous bands around the necks and decorated roundels with stylised floral motifs. Typical age-related wear is visible on the enamel, alongside an otherwise excellent condition. They suit display on a sideboard top in an English Country House interior setting, bringing traditional craftsmanship and colour to living spaces.

Originating from Yixing in Jiangsu province, this ceramic style combines the regions dense stoneware clay with vibrant overglaze opaque enamels. Popular during the Qing Dynasty, these pieces often feature detailed figural, landscape, or botanical compositions set against patterned grounds.

The body was shaped using dark, iron-rich Yixing stoneware clay and fired first. Skilled artisans then applied layers of polychrome vitreous enamels to create decorative scenes and background motifs before subjecting the piece to a second low-temperature kiln firing.

Authentic period pieces display hand-painted enamel application with slight depth and irregularity, fine surface glaze craquelure, and exposed stoneware feet showing natural age wear and smooth unglazed clay texture.

A pair of decorative Asian vases is typically placed symmetrically on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece to provide visual balance, texture, and historical contrast within modern or traditional decor schemes.

Dust gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth or horsehair brush. Avoid chemical cleaners, abrasive scrubbers, or prolonged immersion in water, as moisture can infiltrate fine glaze crackle and compromise delicate overglaze enameling.
