Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of four Regency dining chairs is made from dense Cuban mahogany in a dark brown finish with red and cream striped fabric on the lift-out padded seats. Each chair has a shaped back with a reeded top rail, an inlaid back panel, square tapered legs, and supporting stretchers. The timber shows natural grain variations, and the fabric displays a woven pattern alongside the stripes. Measuring 87 cm high, 49 cm wide, and 42 cm deep with a seating height of 46 cm, these chairs suit a formal dining room or a traditional kitchen setting for daily meals and dinner parties.

FAQs

Regency dining chairs typically exhibit classical proportions, reeded wood frames, detailed cross-splats or inlaid back panels, and tapered or straight legs.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany or rosewood, combining finely carved timber frames with woven cane or padded fabric upholstered seating.

Authentic period chairs display hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, subtle variations from hand-carving, and natural wood oxidation on unvarnished underside surfaces.

Pairing dark wood period seating with contemporary minimalist tables or modern artwork creates a balanced contrast between historical craft and clean modern design.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry cloth, apply beeswax sparingly along the wood grain annually, and position the chairs away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
