Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian slipper and bedroom chairs are low-slung, armless upholstered seats originally designed for dressing rooms and bedrooms. They feature short turned legs, often on castors, and upholstered button-back designs to facilitate comfortable low seating.

Frame construction relied on solid hardwoods such as beech or walnut, combined with traditional coil springs and horsehair padding. Outer upholstery ranged from silk damasks and printed cottons to heavy velvets, secured with brass studs or decorative piping.

Authentic Howard and Sons pieces typically feature stamped markings on the rear legs, brass castors engraved with Howard & Sons London, or original printed ticking under the seat. Look for deep coil springwork and heavy hardwood frame construction.

Position a pair of armless accent chairs in a bedroom corner, at the foot of a bed, or in a formal drawing room bay window. Combining complementary upholstery fabrics on a matching pair adds visual texture while maintaining structural symmetry.

Keep antique upholstery away from direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading and timber degradation. Clean upholstery gently using a soft brush vacuum attachment, and periodically check brass castors to ensure smooth movement without damaging floor surfaces.
