This Pair of 19thC Continental Gilt Hall Chairs are sure to make an impression wherever placed in the home. Standing on carved front legs, with shaped stretcher rails complete with a turned finial for decoration.
The profusely carved backs have a geometrically patterned surround, framing the highly detailed centre panels, which comprise swags and figures along with a multitude of other forms. The central person in each back panel is different, both being in traditional costume but adding further intrigue and interest.
The chairs are covered in a wine-coloured rich velvet. The gilding is showing some signs of age and wear to be expected from years of use. The chairs are structurally sound, with no movement in the frames.
A highly decorative pair of chairs of unusual form and design, that would make a statement when displayed.
