FAQs

Faux bamboo items gained immense popularity in Europe during the Victorian era, heavily influenced by orientalism and trade with East Asia, leading craftsmen to carve wood to imitate natural bamboo joints.

These frames are typically crafted from solid hardwoods such as pine, birch, or beech, which are hand-turned on a lathe and carved to replicate the characteristic nodes and rings of natural bamboo.

Authentic pieces often exhibit age-related patina, hand-carved joint details rather than uniform synthetic moulding, and older mirror plates with slight foxing or backboards secured with traditional fixings.

This piece adds organic texture and classical warmth to modern spaces, working effectively as a full-length dressing mirror in a bedroom or as a striking architectural element in a minimalist hallway.

Dust the frame regularly with a dry cloth and apply a microcrystalline wax sparingly to nourish the wood, while cleaning the glass with a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than directly onto the surface.
