Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced roughly between 1901 and 1910, Edwardian Regency Revival furniture draws inspiration from early 19th-century proportions. Pieces from this era frequently feature lightweight framing, reeded top rails, slender vertical slats, and elegant turned legs executed in dark woods like mahogany.

Edwardian cabinetmakers predominantly used solid mahogany, rosewood, or walnut for structural framing. Upholstery was traditionally stuffed with horsehair or wool and covered in woven damasks, leather, or velvet fabrics.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-finished mortise and tenon joinery, subtle asymmetry from hand-tooling, and natural patination along high-touch surfaces like the armrests. Check the underside for traditional webbed seat construction and aged timber oxidisation.

An antique carver chair functions effectively as a focal accent chair at a modern home office desk or positioned as a statement occasional chair in a hallway. It can also serve as an end chair at a contemporary dining table to create visual contrast.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish to the wooden frame along the direction of the grain twice a year to preserve moisture and luster. Gentle vacuuming with a soft brush attachment maintains the velvet seat pile without causing fibre compression.
