Victorian lounge chairs from the 19th century typically feature robust hardwood frames, often mahogany or walnut, deep button tufting, and elaborate upholstery designed for comfort and formal parlour display.

These chairs are predominantly constructed using solid timbers such as mahogany, oak, or walnut for the frame, paired with traditional stuffing materials like horsehair, coil springs, and durable wool or velvet textiles.

Authenticity is identified through traditional joinery methods, hand-turned wooden elements, hand-stitched upholstery techniques, and period-appropriate hardware such as brass castors.

Pairing a historical upholstered chair with contemporary minimalist furniture creates a balanced, eclectic aesthetic that highlights the craftsmanship of the period piece.

Maintain the wood with appropriate furniture wax and protect the fabric from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Professional cleaning is recommended for delicate antique textiles.
