Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large Edwardian Venetian wall mirror provides a striking decorative statement for any interior space. The rectangular horizontal piece incorporates a clear central mirror plate framed by panelled glass borders adorned with delicate etched floral motifs. Small glass rosette clips secure the border sections at regular intervals, while subtle bevelled edges add depth to the reflective surface. Measuring 122 cm high, 360 cm wide and 5 cm deep, the substantial wooden-backed structure requires adequate wall anchoring. Positioning the accessory above a sideboard in a dining room or living area creates an immediate sense of scale and light enhancement. The silver tones of the glass coordinate effortlessly with neutral wall finishes and traditional or contemporary interior schemes. Simple hanging hardware along the top edge facilitates secure wall mounting for practical daily use. The restrained decorative detailing and generous proportions make it a versatile focal point for principal rooms within the home.

FAQs

Originating in Venice and Murano during the Renaissance, Venetian mirrors are distinguished by their all-glass design, incorporating glass frames, hand-etched foliage decoration, bevelled edges, and glass rosettes covering the mounting screws.

Traditional Venetian mirrors were crafted using hand-blown plate glass backed with a tin-mercury amalgam, surrounded by individually etched mirror strips and secured with delicate hand-moulded glass corner rosettes or metal fixings onto a wooden backing frame.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-engraved motifs with subtle variations, multi-panel glass construction, oxidisation or dark spots within the silvering, and original hand-formed glass rosettes securing the mirror plates.

Position a horizontal Venetian mirror above a minimalist sideboard, console table, or fireplace mantelpiece to reflect light, broaden the room visually, and create an elegant focal point contrasting clean contemporary lines.

Clean the glass surface using a soft microfibre cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or a mild non-ammoniated glass cleaner, taking care not to let liquid seep behind the glass panels or into metal clips.
