FAQs

Nineteenth-century mirrors frequently featured robust wooden frames with hand-carved details, reflecting utilitarian yet decorative craftsmanship popular in domestic interiors of the period.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods like oak or pine, joined with traditional mortise and tenon or mitred corners, often housing hand-silvered glass plates.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the wood patina, tool marks on the reverse, composition of the mirror glass, and structural joinery consistent with nineteenth-century cabinetmaking.

Pairing a weathered wooden frame with contemporary minimalist furnishings creates a balanced contrast, adding warmth, texture, and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Clean the glass gently with a soft cloth and neutral cleaner, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage the antique frame or silvering.
