A fine quality early twentieth century walnut trumeau mirror in the George I manner. The mirror has a beautiful ogee moulded walnut border with gilt carved wood detail. The pediment has a typical Georgian style crested edge and gilded Prince of Wales feathers mount. The central trumeau section is occupied by an oil painting of cherubs frolicking on a cloud. The oil painting has suffered some minor damage and in areas is sketched and incomplete meaning it is probably an older canvas reused in this mirror. The quality of the work is very good in the painting and does indicate an earlier origin. The mirror plate is also the original and in good condition with the odd mark commensurate with the age. The whole is a great decorative piece with the walnut having a good rich colour and patina. C.1920
