FAQs

These mirrors are characterised by intricate geometric and floral woodwork combined with extensive inlay work, reflecting traditional Middle Eastern craftsmanship and Islamic design motifs.

They are typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as walnut or beech, meticulously hand-carved and inlaid with fragments of mother of pearl, bone, or wire to create contrasting patterns.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-cut natural mother of pearl pieces with irregular thickness, handmade iron or brass fixings, hand-beveled or mercury glass plates, and visible tool marks on the reverse wood construction.

Maintain the piece by keeping it away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to prevent wood warping and adhesive degradation. Clean the wood with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners on the inlay.

This piece works effectively as a statement focal point in eclectic, maximalist, or transitional spaces, contrasting well against minimalist plaster walls or serving as an anchor above a console table.
