FAQs

The Regency style spans the early 19th century, drawing heavily on classical Greco-Roman motifs, featuring clean lines, painted finishes, and classical ornamentation.

These pieces typically utilised native hardwoods like beech or elm, often finished with japanning or black paint, complemented by woven cane seating and delicate hand-painted detailing.

Authentic pieces display period-appropriate joinery, traditional hand-woven caning, aged patina in the paintwork, and classical neoclassical motifs consistent with the early 1800s.

Position the chair as a standalone accent piece in a study or living space to highlight its architectural silhouette and historic character against minimalist backdrops.

Maintain caned seats by keeping them away from direct heat sources and occasionally dampening the underside to prevent the natural fibres from becoming brittle.
