This eighteenth-century George III Sheraton corner cupboard brings classic English Country House style to living spaces, hallways, or dining rooms where it hangs securely to display treasured objects on internal shelves. The structure uses warm brown figured mahogany with satinwood, boxwood, and brass inlay, complemented by a bright green painted interior and clear glass panes. The exterior presents a swan neck pediment mounted with carved patera rosettes, dentil inlay along the cornice, fine astragal glazing bars shaping the door panels, a brass keyhole escutcheon, and a working lock with key. Measuring 77 cm high, 44 cm wide, and 44 cm deep, the unit provides compact wall storage that maximises corner spaces. Natural timber grain runs vertically along the glazed door frame and side panels, showing the warm natural tones of the mahogany. The swan neck scrolls curve upward to the central carved rosettes, while the glass door opens on brass hinges to reveal the painted green shelving and interior background, offering a practical yet decorative cabinet for contemporary home displays.

Sheraton style corner cupboards, popular in late 18th-century Britain, are characterised by refined geometric proportions, slim astragal glazing bars, and delicate marquetry or stringing inlays. Often constructed from mahogany, these pieces frequently feature broken arch or swan neck pediments.

Primary construction typically featured solid mahogany or Cuban mahogany veneers, complemented by hand-blown cylinder glass panes within wooden astragal moulding. Cabinet interiors were frequently painted or fabric-lined, while hardware featured cast brass fittings.

Authentic George III pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, hand-planed pine or oak backboards, and original wavy glass with minor air bubbles or imperfections. Look for correct period wear around brass key escutcheons and age-appropriate timber shrinkage.

Position the cabinet in an unutilised corner of a dining room or hallway to maximise floor space while adding vertical architectural interest. Display modern monochrome ceramics or glassware inside to create a crisp visual contrast against dark wood tones.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a soft microfiber cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice yearly. Clean the glass with a lint-free cloth dampened with water or dilute vinegar, taking care to avoid contact with the wooden astragal bars.
