This nineteenth-century French Rococo display vitrine follows the Louis XV style, constructed from warm brown kingwood with glazed glass panels on five sides and a serpentine front frame. The woodwork is decorated with cast ormolu mounts, a pierced rocaille cartouche finial at the top crown, and hand-painted floral Vernis Martin lacquer panels in dark tones set into the lower cupboard base and side cabinets. The interior holds two glass shelves against a pale yellow patterned fabric lining, accessed through three glazed doors hung with small metal hinges. The cabinet is raised on six slender cabriole legs that curve down to gilt metal sabots. Measuring 182.9 cm high, 152.4 cm wide, and 45.7 cm deep, this large display cabinet provides generous storage and viewing space for precious collections. It suits a formal living room, dining room, or entrance hallway as an elegant storage piece for porcelain, crystal, or decorative objects.

A Vernis Martin vitrine is a glazed display cabinet featuring decorative lacquerwork developed by the Martin brothers in 18th-century France, designed to imitate East Asian lacquer techniques on French Rococo furniture.

These cabinets typically feature rich wood veneers such as kingwood, rosewood, or mahogany, decorated with gilded bronze mounts, hand-painted Vernis Martin panels, and glass display doors.

Vitrines in the Louis XV style feature serpentine or bombe profiles, cast gilt-bronze mounts following the curves of the timber frame, and hand-painted lower panels.

Position the vitrine as a focal piece against a neutral wall, using the interior shelves to display ceramic objects, glassware, or curated items to create contrast with modern decor.

Position the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to protect the timber veneer, clean glass surfaces with a microfibre cloth, and dust gilt metal mounts gently using a dry brush.
