Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This early 20th century French Chateau style girandole mirror belongs to the Adam Revival tradition. Cast and carved from giltwood and glass with metal components, the piece displays an antiqued gold finish and supports two candle sconces at the base. Ornate decorations include an acanthus leaf crest, a ribbon bow motif, a beaded oval border, rosettes on the plate, and detailed carved scrolling along the frame and brackets. The mirror measures 99 cm high, 43 cm wide, and 15 cm deep in physical size. In a contemporary home, this piece hangs vertically on a wall in a living room, hallway, or dining room. It works particularly well placed above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table where the twin candle sconces provide both decorative symmetry and ambient lighting.

FAQs

A girandole mirror is a decorative wall mirror fitted with integral candle branches or sconces designed to amplify and reflect candle light across a room.

Carved timber frames were coated in layers of gesso clay before gold leaf or metallic gilding was applied, housing a flat or bevelled glass mirror plate.

Genuine pieces display carved wood joinery on the reverse, hand-sculpted detail, and gentle wear to the gilding where the underlying gesso base shows through.

Position the mirror centrally above a sideboard, fireplace mantel, or console table to reflect light and create a formal focal point.

Dust the frame regularly using a dry, soft-bristled brush, ensuring water or liquid solvents are avoided as they can dissolve the delicate gesso and gilding.
