Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This small overmantel mirror dates from the Regency period around 1820 and displays a grand architectural style. The frame uses warm brown walnut timber highlighted by gilded elements, including carved capitals on the flanking pilaster columns and a bright inner slip surrounding the central glass plate. Horizontal mouldings run across the upper section above the rectangular glass, while the sturdy vertical columns frame the sides. Measuring 43 cm in height and 74 cm in width, the compact proportions suit placement above a living room fireplace, a bedroom mantelpiece or a console table in a hallway. The traditional design pairs naturally with period rooms as well as contemporary interiors seeking a classic focal point on the wall.

Regency overmantel mirrors typically feature classical architectural influence, low landscape proportions, and details such as side pilasters, reeded columns, and gilded inner slips framed by dark hardwoods like walnut or mahogany.

Pieces from this period were commonly crafted using native or imported hardwoods such as walnut, rosewood, and mahogany, integrated with leaf-gilded wooden mouldings and silvered or mercury glass plates.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-carved joinery, natural foxing or oxidisation on the mirror plate back, original gilt leafing showing age-related wear, and solid timber backboards.

Position the mirror directly above a fireplace mantelpiece or mount it above a hall console table to introduce classical architectural proportion and natural timber tones to contemporary spaces.

Clean the wooden frame with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly along the wood grain. Avoid spraying glass cleaners directly onto the mirror plate to prevent liquid seeping behind the gilded slip.
