A lovely set of chairs with split cane backs.
. The chairs boast high, elegant backrests topped with hand-carved cresting rails featuring central acanthus motif carving flanked by graceful scrollwork, all set between turned side uprights finished with crisp ball finials . The centre of each back frame houses a panel of fine split cane, all of which remain intact and in good condition with wonderful tautness and warm natural colour .
Standing on impressive cup-and-cover turned front legs ending in turned bun feet, the under-frames are joined by a sturdy H-stretcher arrangement with squared rear legs for maximum stability . The Oak woodwork displays a rich, deep brown tone with a lovely authentic patina built up over the last century .
Having been through our workshop, the chairs have been thoroughly checked over, cleaned, revived, and traditionally waxed to ensure they arrive in home-ready condition fit for many years of daily use. All four frames are completely solid and sturdy with no loose joints or movement. The drop-in seat pads have been stripped back to the bare frames and fully rebuilt from the ground up for proper comfort and support . They have been freshly recovered in a high-quality Straw (Keswick Champagne) flat-weave fabric, offering a clean, neutral contrast against the dark Oak that will suit both period and contemporary dining spaces seamlessly .
As professional restorers, we appreciate that fabric choices are down to individual taste; should the material covering not suit your interior, we are very happy to quote for recovering the seat in a material of your choice prior to delivery.
As we have re-upholstered these in-house we are happy to provide a sample of the material if required.
Please note these chairs are in very good condition for their age but do have slight signs of wear and tear, however, we feel that these points are which adds to part of its charm and character with it being antique.
