Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 Queen Anne style wall mirror is fashioned from warm brown figured walnut with a moulded frame and an arched, shaped top cresting. The construction uses traditional boarded backing, and the piece includes the original glass mirror plate along with small metal hanging loops affixed to the side frame. The surface displays a rich timber grain and polished finish typical of English country house decor. It measures 62 cm in height by 32 cm in width. Home placement works well in a hallway, bedroom, or living space, positioned directly above a sideboard or console table to reflect light and enhance the interior layout.

FAQs

Arched walnut wall mirrors gained prominence during the Queen Anne and Early Georgian periods. They feature distinctive curved or cresting top profiles, framed with figured walnut veneers and moulded edges designed to introduce vertical height and architectural detail to period interiors.

These mirrors typically feature a solid pine or oak backboard faced with high-grade walnut or burr walnut veneers. The mirror plates were historically made with mercury-silvered glass, held within hand-carved or moulded timber frames.

Authentic period pieces show signs of age on the reverse, such as dark hand-hewn softwood backings and original fixings. The mirror plate often exhibits slight foxing, desilvering, or minor distortion, while the walnut frame displays uneven oxidisation and natural patina.

An arched mirror functions as a focal point when placed above a hallway console table, fireplace mantel, or dining room sideboard. The warm wood tones create textural contrast against painted, neutral, or wallpapered feature walls.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the wood finish. Avoid spraying liquid glass cleaners directly onto the glass to prevent moisture from seeping into the wooden rebate and damaging the silvering.
