The Real Wood Furniture Company has dated this Antique French Giltwood Mirror to the 1870s.
These naturally occurring variations create a richly mottled surface while retaining areas of clear reflection, giving the mirror a particularly decorative quality.

The moulded giltwood frame is finely carved with scrolling ornament and retains much of its historic gilded surface. Years of natural wear have softened the finish, revealing warm underlying tones and subtle variations in the gilding. Historic restorations and areas of sensitive retouching are present, together with the expected knocks, rubbing and losses associated with its age.

The combination of distressed glass and timeworn gilding gives the piece an atmospheric, authentic appearance that works particularly well as a decorative statement mirror.
Designed to be displayed either vertically or horizontally.
