Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This unusual Spanish Revival landscape mirror originates from the 1930s. Fashioned from gilt metal with its original glass mirror plate, the rectangular piece exhibits a warm gold finish with intact original gilding and shows good untouched condition without losses. A repeating pattern of leaf-shaped motifs radiates around the outer frame, complemented by an inner rope-twist border surrounding the oblong glass. Hooks verso allow the piece to hang either horizontally or vertically. Measuring 44 cm in height and 65 cm in width, this accessory suits placement above a sideboard in a living room, hallway or dining space. The Art Deco glamour aesthetic brings character to both traditional and contemporary interiors, offering a functional decorative accent for walls throughout the home.

FAQs

1930s Spanish gilt metal mirrors often combine traditional artisan metalwork with bold decorative shapes, featuring botanical elements like stylized leaves or sunburst rays finished in warm gold leaf or gilded paint.

These frames were typically constructed from hand-shaped iron or steel sheet, which was then coated with gold leaf, gilt paint, or brass plating, surrounding a central silvered glass mirror plate.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural signs of age such as minor oxidisation on the metalwork, gentle wear to the gilded layer exposing underlying metal or bole, and subtle hand-wrought irregularities in the frame construction.

Positioning a landscape gilt mirror horizontally above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or console table creates visual balance and reflects light across the room, pairing well with both modern and period furniture.

Dust the frame regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth or feather duster, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners or abrasive polishes that could strip the delicate gilded finish.
