We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Chinoiserie is a European decorative style that reflects Chinese artistic influences, characterised by hand-painted motifs, asymmetrical designs, and depictions of landscapes, figures, and pagodas.

Traditional painted mirrors typically feature a carved wooden or gesso frame, hand-applied pigment layers, protective varnish or lacquer finishes, and bevelled glass plates.

Authentic vintage pieces often show natural craquelure in the paint, traditional joinery methods on the reverse, hand-mixed pigments, and older mirror glass featuring minor oxidisation.

Position the mirror above a console table or mantelpiece to act as a focal point, pairing it with minimalist furnishings to highlight its ornate, painted details.

Dust the frame gently with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and clean the mirror glass with a non-ammonia cleaner applied to a cloth rather than directly onto the surface.
