We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Lloyd Loom furniture was invented by Marshall Burns Lloyd in 1917, who patented a process of twisting kraft paper around a wire core and weaving it on a loom. This created a durable, smooth material that did not crack or splinter like traditional wicker.

Lloyd Loom items consist of a steam-bent beechwood or hardwood internal frame combined with twisted cellulose fibre yarn woven into panels. Metal reinforcing wire runs through the core of the twisted paper strands for structural integrity.

Authentic early pieces often feature a metal tag or plaque stamped with the Lloyd Loom brand name and patent details, typically fixed to the underside. The weave is uniform and tightly bound, lacking the irregularities found in natural rattan.

These chairs fit well in sunrooms, living spaces, or bedrooms, providing a textural contrast to contemporary clean lines. They can be paired with neutral upholstery or textured cushions to highlight their woven construction.

Clean the surface gently using a soft-bristled brush or vacuum attachment to remove dust from the weave. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and damp environments to prevent fading and deterioration of the paper-based material.
