FAQs

These chairs typically feature regional British cabinet-making traditions, characterised by solid hardwood construction, shaped open arms, and distinctive pierced splat backs reflecting local craftsmanship.

They are predominantly constructed from dense indigenous hardwoods such as laburnum, often displaying rich natural grain patterns, alongside traditional joinery techniques and upholstered drop-in or over-stuffed seats.

Authentication involves examining timber patination, tool marks, hand-cut joinery, frame stability, and regional characteristics specific to Scottish workshops of the period.

This piece functions effectively as a standalone accent chair in a study, library, or living room, contrasting against contemporary minimalist walls or complementing traditional decor.

Maintenance requires keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight, applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the wood, and using professional upholstery cleaning methods.
