Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This nineteenth-century Anglo-Indian jewellery box originates from Ahmedabad and is rendered in warm brown sandalwood with brass hardware. The exterior displays deep-relief foliate carving across every surface, including a stepped lid and a drop-front compartment secured by a central keyhole escutcheon without a key. Polished brass drop handles are mounted to each side, and the chest rests elevated upon four cast brass claw feet. Visible wear appears consistent with age across the timber surfaces. The box measures 20 cm high, 33 cm wide, and 23 cm deep. Positioned upon a sideboard top or desk in a gentleman's library, this container provides secure storage for cufflinks, rings, watches, and small personal valuables. The intricate botanical motifs and warm wood tones complement traditional and eclectic interiors alike while offering functional storage space for daily use.

Originating predominantly in regions such as Mysore and Gujarat during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these boxes were crafted by local artisans using regional sandalwood. Designed both for export to Western markets and for domestic aristocracy, they blend traditional Indian relief carving techniques with Western vessel forms.

These items are constructed primarily from dense sandalwood, valued for its fine grain and natural aromatic qualities. The relief motifs are hand-carved directly into the timber, and construction often incorporates metal lock plates, brass carrying handles, and cast brass feet.

Authentic pieces exhibit high-relief, detailed hand carving depicting intricate flora and fauna rather than shallow machine-moulded patterns. The wood typically retains a subtle, natural fragrance, and vintage examples show period-appropriate joinery alongside natural patination on both the timber and metal fittings.

A carved box serves as a textured accent piece on a bedroom dressing table, a living room console, or a study desk. It offers functional storage for small items while introducing historical detail and rich timber tones into contemporary or traditional decorative schemes.

Keep the wood clean by dusting regularly with a soft, dry brush to clear carved recesses. Avoid liquid cleaners, polishes, or high humidity which can damage the timber structure, and keep out of direct sunlight to prevent drying and cracking.
