FAQs

Treen refers to small, functional wooden household and office objects made by hand or on a lathe, primarily dating from the 17th to the early 20th century.

Makers typically used dense hardwoods such as boxwood, lignum vitae, mahogany, and walnut, often shaping them using wood-turning lathes.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-turned tool marks, natural patination from handling, shrinkage cracks, and historic wear consistent with age rather than modern replication.

Place small treen items on bookshelves, desks, or mantelpieces to introduce organic texture, historic warmth, and sculptural form into modern spaces.

Maintain antique treen by keeping it away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity, dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood.
