FAQs

The George III period spanned from 1760 to 1820, encompassing influences from Chippendale, Hepplewhite, and Sheraton, characterised by refined proportions, quality timber construction, and classical ornamentation.

Cabinet makers predominantly used imported dense hardwoods such as mahogany and walnut, often paired with traditional joinery like mortise and tenon joints, and upholstered using horsehair over webbed frames.

Authentication relies on examining hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage patterns, old tool marks, type of secondary woods used in the frames, and the natural patina developed on the exposed wooden surfaces over centuries.

Pairing these historical pieces with clean-lined contemporary dining tables or minimalist surroundings creates a striking juxtaposition that highlights the craftsmanship of the antique form without overwhelming the space.

Keep wooden frames away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking, feed the wood periodically with appropriate wax, and protect delicate fabric upholstery with professional dry cleaning methods.
