Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Windsor chairs originated in England during the early 18th century, developing from vernacular furniture traditions where spindles and legs were wedged directly into a solid sculpted seat.

They are traditionally constructed using a combination of timbers, typically featuring an elm or ash seat for strength, beech or birch for the turned legs and spindles, and bent yew or ash for the bow or crest rail.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-carved saddle seats, wedge-tenon joinery where the leg pierces the seat top, individual variations from hand-turning, and period-appropriate patination and wear.

They provide a warm, organic contrast when paired with a sleek contemporary dining table or used as standalone accent seating to introduce traditional craftsmanship into minimalist spaces.

Maintain the timber by keeping them away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and periodically nourish the wood with traditional beeswax to preserve the finish without sealing the grain.
