Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III toilet mirror is a tabletop dressing mirror featuring an adjustable glass set into a wooden frame, supported by upright arms mounted on a small base containing one or more drawers, popular during the mid-to-late 18th century.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid and veneered timbers such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often featuring secondary woods like pine or oak for the drawer linings, alongside brass hardware and hand-silvered glass.

Authenticity is indicated by period construction techniques such as hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, old or original mercury-silvered glass with subtle imperfections, appropriate timber ageing, and hand-turned brass or wooden knobs.

An antique mirror can be placed upon a modern chest of drawers, a console table, or a dressing desk to introduce historical contrast, warmth, and reflective light into a contemporary bedroom or hallway scheme.

Preserve the timber and finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying occasional applications of high-quality beeswax, avoiding modern chemical sprays and protecting the mirror glass and silver backing from excess moisture.
