Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Wooden salt boxes were traditionally mounted on kitchen walls or near hearths in domestic households to keep coarse salt dry and easily accessible for cooking.

These pieces were typically crafted from local hardwoods or softwoods such as pine, oak, or mahogany, often featuring dovetail joints, pegged construction, and a shaped backplate with a hanging hole.

Authenticity is determined by hand-cut joinery, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, natural patination from age and use, and traditional fixings rather than modern screws.

This piece can be mounted on a kitchen wall to hold dried herbs or utensils, or placed on a shelf as a sculptural element to introduce historical warmth and texture into contemporary spaces.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent warping or splitting, and occasionally treat the surface with a traditional beeswax polish to maintain the finish.
