Edwardian office furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), typically combines lighter woods like beech or mahogany with functional, ergonomic innovations, reflecting a shift towards comfort and refinement in the workplace.

These chairs were traditionally constructed using robust hardwoods such as beech, oak, or mahogany for the frame, paired with upholstered leather seat pads and cast-iron or steel mechanical swivel mechanisms.

Authentic pieces feature period-appropriate construction methods such as hand-cut dovetails or slotted screws, genuine patina on the wood and leather, and heavy cast-iron mechanical components with working height-adjustment screws.

An antique desk chair provides a functional yet characterful seating option when paired with a contemporary minimalist desk, adding historical texture and contrast to a modern home office.

Maintain the condition of the piece by applying natural beeswax to the wooden elements periodically and treating the leather with a specialist leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking, while avoiding direct sunlight.
