French ormolu jewellery caskets are decorative small boxes made during the 19th century, typically featuring gilt-bronze mounts and glass panels designed for storing precious trinkets.

These boxes commonly utilise cast brass or bronze with gold gilding (ormolu), heavy bevelled plate glass panels, and interior linings of silk, satin, or velvet.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-chased metalwork, heavy bevelled glass with natural edge wear, traditional pin-hinges, and often patination consistent with age.

Placed on a dressing table, mantelpiece, or bedside table, these caskets add a reflective metallic accent and a touch of historic craftsmanship to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the piece by dusting gently with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding chemical metal cleaners on gilded surfaces, and keeping fabric linings free from moisture.
