Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Tunbridge Ware refers to a distinct type of decorative woodwork produced in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, during the 18th and 19th centuries, characterised by intricate mosaic designs made from numerous tiny wood blocks.

Pieces were crafted from native and exotic timbers, cut into microscopic squares and geometric shapes, then assembled by hand to form pictorial or geometric veneer patterns applied to a solid wood carcase.

Authenticity is identified by the extreme precision of the mosaic work, the use of multiple naturally coloured woods rather than paint, and often the presence of a makers label or specific historical construction techniques on the interior.

This piece works well as a tactile decorative object placed on a coffee table, bookshelf, or desk, adding historical texture and intricate pattern to contemporary spaces.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent the delicate wood veneers from drying out or lifting, with occasional dusting using a dry, soft cloth.
