Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Swing mirrors, also known as cheval or toilet mirrors, gained popularity during the late 17th and 18th centuries as dressing tables became essential furniture pieces in affluent households.

Authentic pieces are typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, or oak, featuring hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, brass pivot hardware, and silvered glass plates.

Authentic period pieces often show signs of age such as foxing or oxidisation on the mirror glass, hand-turned wooden components, and period-appropriate screws or fixings rather than modern Phillips head screws.

An antique swing mirror can be placed on top of a modern minimalist sideboard or a traditional chest of drawers to add verticality, reflection, and textural contrast to the space.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the wood. Clean the glass with a mild, ammonia-free glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the surface.
