The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1820, drew heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian antiquity, characterised by clean lines, classical proportions, and dark woods like mahogany.

Regency armchairs were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany, often featuring carved details, curved sabre legs, and traditional joinery, frequently paired with upholstered seats finished with brass clout nails.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, hand-cut joinery, patination of the wood, traditional upholstery techniques, and the characteristic classical motifs such as reeding or sabre legs typical of the early 19th century.

This piece works effectively as a statement accent chair in a study or living room, pairing well with contemporary minimalist decor to highlight its classical silhouette and rich wooden tones.

Maintain mahogany furniture by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the timber.
