This early nineteenth century Regency armchair is made from mahogany with a waxed finish in a warm brown colour. The design includes a curved crest rail with moulded decoration, scroll shaped arms featuring turned patera on the outside, and swept sabre front legs. The seat is covered in an old needlework upholstery decorated with a central floral pattern incorporating red, white, pink, blue, and green tones, finished with small brass studs along the lower edge. It stands 86.5 cm high, 56 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. Suitable for placement around a desk or as an occasional seating option in a study, library, or living room, this piece integrates well into traditional interiors. The timber displays natural grain variations typical of the period, while the upholstery shows authentic signs of age consistent with a vintage needlepoint cover. The sound construction provides a sturdy seat for daily use in a home setting.

Regency armchairs, dating from the early 19th century in Britain, are characterised by classical Greek and Roman influences, featuring sweeping lines, subtle reeding, scrolled armrests, and splayed sabre legs.

Chairs from this period were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or rosewood, often featuring hand-woven needlepoint, wool tapestry, or silk damask upholstery fixed with brass studs.

Authentic Regency chairs typically display hand-cut joinery, natural timber patination, gently contoured crest rails, and distinct forward-curving or sabre legs.

A Regency carver chair functions effectively as an accent desk chair, a hallway feature piece, or integrated as head-of-table seating within an eclectic dining space.

Wood surfaces should be lightly waxed using natural beeswax applied along the grain, while textile upholstery requires gentle vacuuming and placement away from direct sunlight.
