Treen refers to small, functional wooden objects made by turning or woodworking techniques, while coopered caddies are constructed using staves and hoops similar to barrel-making.

They were typically fashioned from dense hardwoods like fruitwood, oak, or mahogany, featuring interlocking staves held together by metal bands such as brass or copper.

Authenticity is assessed through wood patination, hand-cut joinery, the type of metal fastenings, tool marks, and general wear consistent with nineteenth-century production methods.

It can be displayed as a sculptural accent object on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table, adding texture and historical character to a curated living space.

Keep the object away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity to prevent wood splitting, and clean gently with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes.
