This Edwardian display cabinet is in the Sheraton Revival style, constructed from mahogany with satinwood and boxwood inlay, crossbanding, and marquetry. The timber exhibits a warm brown colour with contrasting light banding on the top, doors, and edges. The upper section features an arched cornice, two central glazed doors with astragal glazing bars enclosing two glass shelves, and curved glazed side panels. A pink tassel hangs between the upper doors. Below the central doors, a drop-down glazed compartment sits at the centre, flanked by cupboard sections with marquetry motifs. The piece stands on slim tapered legs connected by an intricately carved apron. Additional visible details include wooden beading around the glazed sections and oyster-coloured velvet upholstery lining the interior. Measuring 193 cm high, 143 cm wide, and 36 cm deep, the cabinet functions well in a living room, dining room, or hallway to display and store glassware, ceramics, and ornaments.

Produced during the early 20th century, Edwardian Sheraton Revival display cabinets draw inspiration from 18th-century designs by Thomas Sheraton. They feature light mahogany construction, slender proportions, satinwood crossbanding, refined marquetry, and delicate astragal glazing.

Cabinets from this era primarily utilise dense mahogany or rosewood framed with decorative satinwood inlay, boxwood stringing, and marquetry motifs. Glazed sections feature float glass panes secured by timber astragal mouldings.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on internal drawer elements, solid secondary woods such as oak or pine for backboards, period brass lock plates, and natural wear to the finish around handles and foot terminals.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall in a dining room or drawing room to serve as a focal point. Use the interior shelves to display a curated collection of contemporary ceramics, glassware, or art objects to contrast with the dark timber.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax paste once or twice a year, buffing along the wood grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to protect the delicate veneers and prevent warping.
