This Edwardian display cabinet dates from 1900 and exemplifies classic English Country House style. The piece uses mahogany and satinwood with a warm brown timber finish and glass, displaying a bowfront design, Gothic glazing bars, marquetry inlay, and tapered square legs. A stepped architectural cornice with inlaid detail surmounts a central glazed door with mahogany mouldings. The door is flanked by curved glazed panels revealing the original interior with a single display shelf and a patterned backing. Below the door, a lower central panel contains marquetry inlay depicting cornucopia, swags, and fan motifs. The cabinet stands on slender square tapering legs. The dimensions measure 181 cm high, 136 cm wide, and 42 cm deep. Suitable for any traditional interior, this cabinet provides elegant display storage in a living room, dining room, or hallway for treasured objects, books, or collections.

Edwardian bowfront display cabinets feature a convex curved glass front, lighter timber constructions such as mahogany or satinwood, and neoclassically inspired decorative marquetry inlay inspired by earlier eighteenth-century designs.

These cabinets were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, secondary timbers like pine or oak for interior framing, hand-cut glass panes, and decorative inlays crafted from satinwood, boxwood, or rosewood.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished joinery, period-correct brass hardware, natural timber oxidisation on unfinished rear panels, and original drawn glass with subtle surface irregularities.

An Edwardian display cabinet can be styled by grouping minimalist ceramics, books, or curated glassware inside to contrast traditional mahogany woodwork against contemporary wall finishes.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting, apply beeswax periodically to maintain the mahogany finish, and clean the glass using a dry lint-free cloth.
