Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Revolving office chairs gained popularity during the mid-to-late 19th century as businesses expanded and clerical work increased. Designers adapted traditional Windsor and captain chair forms by adding central iron pivot mechanisms and casters to improve mobility and efficiency for office workers.

These chairs typically feature solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, combined with steam-bent wooden backrests and upholstered leather seats. Construction often incorporates mortise and tenon joints alongside heavy-duty cast-iron swivel mechanisms and wooden spider bases.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved details, and genuine patina on both the wood and leather. Inspect the underside for cast-iron mechanical parts, hand-cut screws, and signs of genuine wear and oxidisation rather than artificial distressing.

An antique revolving desk chair can serve as a functional task chair paired with a minimalist modern desk to create a striking contrast. Alternatively, it works effectively as an accent seating piece in a living room corner or a traditional study.

Maintain the wood by applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the surface without building up residue. Treat the leather with specialist leather balms or saddle soap to prevent cracking while keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
