Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian country house postbox measures 26 cm high, 45 cm wide, and 21.5 cm deep. The piece is fashioned from golden oak with a warm brown finish, accompanied by brass hardware and glass inserts. A slanted top contains a brass aperture with the word LETTERS stamped above the slot, positioned above a small framed schedule window. The front features a horizontal glazed viewing panel fitted below a central brass keyhole, while open stationery compartments flank both sides of the main body. Position this tabletop organiser on an office desk or side table to store incoming mail and stationery in a study, hallway, or home workspace. The utilitarian design brings functional English country house character to interior schemes, offering visible wood grain and traditional metal fittings appropriate for daily correspondence sorting.

During the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, large country estates maintained strict schedules for outgoing mail. Tabletop post boxes were placed in entrance halls or morning rooms so guests and household members could deposit correspondence prior to daily postal collections.

These boxes were predominantly crafted from hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut. They feature cast brass apertures, glass viewing panels to inspect contents, and occasionally velvet or fabric-lined interiors.

Authentic period examples feature original brass hardware with stamped lettering, glazed panels, and adjustable or hand-written postal collection schedules. Look for natural wear around the keyhole, original lock mechanisms, and joinery techniques typical of the turn of the century.

Position the box on an entryway console table, hallway sideboard, or home office desk. It functions effectively as a decorative storage piece for modern mail, keys, or stationery while adding historical interest to the space.

Dust the wooden surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a beeswax polish periodically to nourish the timber. Brass elements should be kept free of harsh chemicals, and the box should be kept away from direct heat sources to prevent the wood from shrinking or cracking.
