Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Nineteenth-century mirrors frequently featured hand-applied paint finishes, distressed patinas, and carved wooden moulding details reflecting prevailing historic revival movements.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid timber frames such as pine, oak, or hardwood, holding silvered glass plates backed with protective coatings.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the mirror plate for foxing or oxidation, inspecting the joinery and timber grain on the reverse, and checking for hand-carved details.

An antique mirror can be mounted above a contemporary console table or fireplace to introduce texture, historical contrast, and reflected light into a modern space.

Dust frames gently with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical solvents on painted surfaces, and use a mild glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than directly on the glass.
