Edwardian clocks, produced during the reign of King Edward VII, often combine lighter mahogany and satinwood timbers with refined classical proportions and delicate stringing, moving away from the heavy ornamentation of the Victorian era.

Traditional mantel clocks from this period were typically built using a solid wood carcass veneered in mahogany, walnut, or rosewood, featuring brass bezels, convex glass faces, and hand-painted or enamel dials.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate mechanical movements, hand-cut brass components, natural timber aging, and traditional joinery rather than modern fasteners or synthetic finishes.

An antique wooden clock adds warmth and character when placed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or sideboard, contrasting effectively with minimalist modern decor and neutral colour palettes.

Keep wooden cases away from direct sunlight and dramatic humidity changes, dust gently with a dry microfiber cloth, and have the mechanical movement professionally serviced every few years.
