FAQs

Edwardian furniture, produced between 1901 and 1910, often drew inspiration from earlier periods such as Sheraton, Chippendale, and Hepplewhite, featuring lighter proportions, refined craftsmanship, and elegant inlay or carving.

Cabinet makers of the Edwardian era predominantly used dense hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, and satinwood, frequently pairing them with upholstered drop-in seats covered in silk, damask, or woven textiles.

Authentication involves examining joinery methods such as tenon joints, checking for period-appropriate hand tools marks, inspecting the timber grain and patina, and verifying the upholstery webbing and stuffing materials.

Pairing antique wooden chairs with a minimalist modern table creates a striking focal point, blending historical texture and warmth with clean architectural lines for a balanced scheme.

Maintain the timber by keeping furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping, applying microcrystalline wax periodically, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaning agents.
