Regency style spans the early 19th century, drawing heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian design, characterised by clean lines, classical proportions, and restrained ornamentation.

Cabinet makers typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or oak for the frame, paired with traditional horsehair stuffing, webbed foundations, and quality wool or cotton textiles.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting traditional joinery methods, hand-turned wooden components, brass castors, and the natural ageing of the internal webbing and stuffing materials.

Pair the traditional silhouette with neutral modern walls, minimalist side tables, or contemporary lighting to create a balanced, curated aesthetic that highlights the historical piece.

Regularly vacuum fabric using a low-suction attachment, protect timber frames from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity, and consult a professional conservator for deep cleaning or structural repairs.
